Hi all and welcome back to my blog, so I have decided to start something called Style Icon Wednesdays to portray the various style icons or inspirations out there. Some famous in terms of celebrity status and some you might have not heard of but inspire me with their style. It will also be a chance to showcase the various bloggers out their who's style and taste just bangs ('llow the London slang).
Today I start with a TV style Icon, I was casually watching Elementary ( TV series based on Sherlock Holmes and his adventures with Dr Joan Watson) yesterday. Unlike previous shows, films and even the books based on Sherlock Holmes, Dr Watson has always been a man, however in Elementary Dr Joan Watson is a woman and wow does her style BANG!!!. She was wearing this ensemble ( see below) and it inspired me to start this Style Icon Wednesday and I will definitely be creating my own version of this look.
Dr Watson is a character that is originally portrayed by men, this character being portrayed by a woman is a big deal.. she is in a male-heavy profession and her style pulls off that perfect balance of femininity with a side dish of masculinity.
Dress like Watson: She usually pairs a pencil, flared, skater or mini skirt with a button up shirt, buttoned all the way up and either wears a tie or if she wears a blouse it usually has neck ties which she ties in a bow.
The costume designer for the show Rebecca Hofherr does well in carrying her style because even when Watson is in a dress and not the button on shirts she holds her own as a smart, intelligent, classy woman living in a man's world.
I highlighted the side of this character's style that most appeals to me, I love mixing masculine and feminine pieces. She would be my go to for inspiration for work wear. You can be flirty, feminine, classy, chic and still look like a boss and that is my go to.
Thanks again for passing by , I hope you like Style icon Wednesdays.
Till next time. Duces x
