Good day all, I hope we are having a nice weekend. I have a special guest for you guys today, I have been looking forward to this one so without wasting any more time please welcome the one and only Peter Linus aka PITA to Style Medium *inserts applause*
Peter Linus known by the stage name PITA(Praise In This Age) is an International gospel artist based in Lagos, Nigeria. Y'all need to check out his album AS I AM: The Journey So Far.
Now with all the formalities out of the way let us talk fashion!!!
I have Peter on my blog today because one, we are both lovers of fashion and fedoras and also I admire his style, I admire how he expresses himself through his style.
There is often a struggle for those in the public eye to fully express who they are because of a persona they have to uphold and often times there is pressure to succumb to the image their audiences wants them to be and not who they really are. I call this the superman complex, everyone sees Superman but only Superman sees Clarke Kent.
This is not to big him up but of what I have seen of Peter's style he seems to have found a balance or a way through his style to not conform to the way gospel music scene in Nigeria, or society or popular culture says you should be ( if you look closely it's in the tiniest of details).
This is why he's on here today as an example and hopefully to inspire others who might be in his shoes or one day in the public eye. Although everyone sees Superman you can also choose to show them Clarke Kent ( the one they are not expecting, the one that does not fit into their image of who superman should be).
Being in the public eye does not mean you loose your sense of identity to the point where you become what your audience wants you to be instead of truly expressing who you are. #Doyouboo
I asked Peter what Influences your style and how do you keep and express your unique identity through your style?
"Style is a reflection of the inner workings of a person. The essence of my style is strictly from a place inside of me that isn't influenced by popular culture but by how my mind works per time. I am a creative person by nature so my person, my music and my style reflects the creative process I have to go through daily. I see and hear it in my head and interpret it. isn't that a lot of work one might ask, well do something repeatedly for years and it becomes easy, even second nature".
I aim to have different features with people from different arenas of life as to appeal to diverse kinds of people. To those who might be in the public eye or you know one day you might be, I hope this has somewhat inspired you to be you.. don't be conformed to the world.. your audience or the people around even if they don't like it.
That's all for today folks, a huge thank you to Peter for being today's feature. Thanks Bro.
See you on the next page. Till next time. Duces x
