WHAT I’M WEARING
Corduroy Mom Jeans - PRIMARK | Dashiki - ALIEXPRESS | Blazer - Boohoo | Trainers- PRIMARK
Hi all and welcome back to my blog, I hope you are all good and looking forward to the week. This week is the 3rd instalment in my Black History Month Series, if you have missed them you can catch up here and here
I have an autumn/fall trend for you today and a simple and causal way to Style it. 70s fashion is making its way back into the spotlight with dark browns, leopard and snake prints and of course CORDUROY.
For this look I simply paired these corduroy mom jeans with my red dashiki, blazer and trainers for an effortless yet retro look. I am so here for this corduroy trend!!!
This week I am also touching on the topic of self love.
Unfortunately we still live in a world where black and brown people are still called monkeys and apes and various other animals. Or worse you get the occasional “ you are pretty for a black girl”. Why can’t I just be pretty and let that be that, why must it be qualified by my skin colour ( any way rant over).
In such a world it can be easy to absorb all the negativity and not see ourselves as beautiful, powerful and smart etc.
To add to this, the negativity has been going on for HUNDRED of years and it is only in the last few years that we have began to see a wave of self love in the black community and yes we still have a long way to go.

So here are some self love mantras, to get you through those times when you question your self worth, your beauty and your significance. And also a few tips on how to love yourself more.
List the things you love about your self, this can include your physical appearance as well as your personality or skills.
By doing so you start to reinforce your self worth, you start to acknowledge and recognise the things that make you who you are. You begin your journey to self love.
“TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE”
2. Do not compare yourself in anyway to some one else.
When and if you find yourself doing this, write or note down what it is about the other person that is making you envious, jealous or covetous. Find the root and deal with the issue, look at people to learn from them ; from their successes and mistakes, never look to people to compare.
Don’t look at someone else’s grass cause it appears to be greener than yours, you do not know what kinda chemicals they be using to keep that grass green. (You do not know what did they had/ have to do, compromise and sacrifice to get there and stay there) and also you never know, their grass may look greener because it is fake / artificial/ not real.
“Love Who You Are Even If It Makes Others Uncomfortable”
3. Set some goals and smash ‘Em.
Start with the smaller things and work your way to the bigger ones and after you smash each goal, no matter how small it is acknowledge and recognise the fact that you did that and move to the next.
You Are Enough
4. Encourage yourself, celebrate your wins, be your own cheerleader.
Don’t wait for someone’s well done before you acknowledge your amazingness. When ever it is you feel like you have achieved something, before it is even seen by others make sure you tell yourself WELLDONE.
You Are Beautiful. From the shape of your curves to the size of your lips, the texture of your hair and the colour of your skin.
5. Take Some Time Out.
Once in a while take some time out to look after yourself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Take some time out to rest, to manage your thoughts, to re-evaluate your choices, re-focus your thinking. Exercise more, eat more healthy food, drink your water and mind your business.
There is so much freedom in minding your business, trust me!
This is where I leave you guys today, thank you so much for joining me. I would love to hear your comments below on self love, also share some tips so we can all benefit.
