Hi everyone, its your friendly neighbourhood blogger again (yeah I think i'm going to stick with that intro what do you guys think?). Early on in my blogging journey I did a dashiki look ( think it was actually my first blogpost) but I have deleted this since then 'cause the quality wasn't so great. So today I have a daskihi Afrocentric look for you, this is another one of my elements. Enjoy x
I have been doing quite a bit of throw back recently and this look to me screams the '60s. The image i get is during the whole Vietnam war period when counter culture movements such as the Hippies were on the rise and the whole civil rights movement and black pride.
The Dashiki or known as Danshiki in Yoruba or DanCiki in Hausa has highly evolved from its African origin and counter part and made popular in the late 60s. Is the 21st Century Dashiki returning to its political and counter culture movement beginnings when it first appeared in fashion in the USA? I'll let you decide. Also feel free to leave a comment.
Thanks for reading. See you on the next page. Till next time.
