HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone, I know its the 12th but I wanted to post something after we all survived the first week of the new year. WOW did it go by fast, did anyone else get hit in the face Monday morning when you had o go back to work and realized Christmas was definitely over...*sigh * the working life.
This is the time of year we all set goals and resolutions for ourselves and for me this year on the top of that list is to be consistent with this blog, to be inspired and bring you excellent content. (So help me God)
Anyway lets get down to it. Here in the UK we have definitely hit winter because it is FREEZING, thus it was time to bring out the heavy duty winter coats. For those who live in warmer climates and your winter seasons are not that cold I have not forgotten you and have also included some "warmer climate winter coats". Looking cute and warm at the same time sometimes is not an easy task, there have been many days where warmth has to be sacrificed for the sake of fashion *covers face*. However, sometimes having the right coat/outer wear is all you need.
1. The Poncho
Ponchos are like a few steps further from the blanket scarf, great for those days where its not too cold or for climates that gets cooler in the evening. Or if you are in freezing UK, its a great one to throw on get in your car, it is also great for layering you can add a belt for a more put together look or throw on a hat and you will look like you've really made an effort.
2. The Sleeveless Coat
This is another great piece for layering especially on those colder days. This seems to be one of 2015's trends that has made it well into 2016, every shop and their Mama is selling one of these. It is a classy piece, and what I didn't show in the picture is that you can layer this with a biker/leather jacket underneath, on those exceptionally cold days.
3. The Boyfriend Coat
Green Boyfriend Coat- Newlook| Blanket Scarf- Primark.
You can't really tell by the photo but this Jacket is actually green.. that greenish brownish colour. I was going to buy the tan one and jump on the trend but it was all sold out when I went to New Look saw this one and fell in love. Also perfect with an oversized scarf or a blanket scarf.
4. The Dress Up Coat
Beige Formal Coat- Primark
For those nights or days where you are meeting someone for lunch or going for a nice dinner. Throw on "formal" coat over your outfit and you are good to go. Even to work especially if your work wardrobe is formal this is also a perfect fit.
5. The Over-sized Coat
I think this has to be my favorite coat at the moment especially because its getting that much colder. Its a fun coat to dress up. Love to pair it with a walking umbrella or a fedora. It gives me that Sherlock Holmes kind of vibe minus the top hat. It is also great for layering especially since its two sizes bigger than me.
Or as you can see below add a belt for a more fitted look. I got this from a vintage shop and this was the only size available so for those days where I don't want the over sized look or I want to keep myself even warmer, I throw on a belt and it keeps all the heat at my core. ( Trust me on this, it works lol).
I hope this has inspired someone to spice up their winter wardrobe, look around at what you already have and see how you can touch it up. Winter coats or jackets do not have to be boring, you no longer have to sacrifice fashion for warmth or vice versa.
See you on the next page folks. Till next time
