Hi all and welcome back to my blog. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, so I have finally gotten round to do a lil post about the Blogger Christmas event I went to when I was in Nigeria.
You guys remember I did a blog post previously about The Blogger Point, Nigeria's first blogger agency click here to see the post. Well they hosted a Christmas party for bloggers, we had a 3 course meal, guest speakers, networking and more. So to find out all about it keep reading :)
I arrived at the venue BLD haven't been stuck in a bit of traffic at the Lekki toll gate, the table was set and my name tag with my blog details was placed at the table. My initial thoughts were the setting was very cosy and friendly and gave you a chance to really talk to people and network.
Adeola Adebiyi aka omogemura kicked off the special guest talk. She touched on how she got into blogging as a way to build her journalistic portfolio. She shared her incredible journey and how she is now a full time blogger and the hard work and dedication that went into getting to where she is today.
She also shared tips on brand collaborations, knowing your worth as a blogger even if you are just a beginner and building your profile and noting your successes from the onset. She also started a youtube channel as the next phase of her journey.
The next talk was by Oluwatosin founder of Olorisupergal a Nigerian entertainment and lifestyle website. She shared on changing the way we look at blogging and to start approaching it as a business. To market , brand and promote like any other business that was selling a product or service would. A big congratulations to her also for winning The Future Awards Africa Prize for New Media 2016.
The food was really nice ( sorry didn't get a picture of the fruit kebabs) I definitely recommend this place check em out. BLDBYPLAY
More Guest Talks
The founder of The Blogger Point Maryam gave a short talk on her experience as a blogger and what motivated her to start The Blogger Point and how sticking to her niche of fashion and what she knows has brought her thus far.
Toyosi of Desire1709fashion was last but not least as she touched on the blogger scene in Nigeria and how there are a few things we can learn from other bloggers outside of Nigeria. For example when it comes to thrifting and buying 2nd hand clothes on sites like depop, which could be a good economic option for those who can't buy a new wardrobe everyday to blog or for people on low income such as students.
What I Wore
I decided to go for something a little elegant and the floral sleeveless jacket made this look less simple and added more 'flare' to it.
I got to meet a lot of fabulous fellow bloggers, I have linked their Instagram handles under each picture so please do check them out x
I really enjoyed my time at the event from the food to the company of people, I learnt a lot of stuff and the guest speakers spoke on so much more but I only touched on the stuff that stood out to me otherwise this post would have been way too long.
Thanks Blogger Point and I look forward to more events
Happy New Year in Advance
